The GRE/GMAT test is a mandatory requirement for applying to graduate schools abroad (especially in the United States). Its most important function is to provide a standardized evaluation of applicants from different countries and educational systems, allowing admission officers to assess the potential and suitability of applicants using an objective scale.
Therefore, achieving an ideal GRE/GMAT score has always been a sweet burden for applicants. Many students tell us that they try to squeeze in time to practice questions amid their busy coursework, just to score a few extra points on the GRE. We’ve also heard of busy office workers who, to meet the GMAT requirements of their desired schools, cram vocabulary during crowded commutes on the subway. In the end, some people taste the sweet fruit of success and finally secure their application ticket to the next stage, but others are never favored by Lady Luck and always perform poorly on the official exam. Under the intense pressure of exam preparations, students’ physical and mental states are often exhausted, and they find themselves further from their ideal scores.
The advisors at UP-STUDY Educational Center fully understand the suffering and torment students experience while preparing for these exams, and we believe that students should not let these standardized tests limit their dreams of studying abroad. We have compiled the following programs for those of you who are either preparing for exams or have already been mentally and physically drained by the process, offering some new possibilities:
Imperial College London | All Business Master's Programs
Except for MSc International Management and MBA
.. Times Best University in the UK #3
.. 2021 QS World University Ranking #8
.. 2021 QS World University Ranking - Marketing #3
Most UK master's programs do not require the GRE or GMAT, and the business master's programs at Imperial College London are no exception. The Imperial College Business School adopts an optional GRE/GMAT score submission policy, allowing applicants to highlight their unique qualities through different application materials. Instead, applicants are asked to submit a Quantitative Experience Statement and Programming/Computer Software Experience, which more concretely demonstrate their quantitative and information skills.
However, it should be noted that not all programs offer this opportunity. For those applying to Full-Time MBA and MSc International Management programs, it is still required to prepare at least GRE 315+ or GMAT 600+ scores to apply for these programs!
University of Illinois at Chicago | Full-Time, Accelerated MBA Program
.. U.S News National University Ranking #112
.. QS US University #43
.. QS World University Ranking #256
The University of Illinois system is best known for its Urbana-Champaign campus (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, commonly referred to as UIUC). However, the UIUC, located in Urbana-Champaign, is somewhat remote and is more prominent in engineering disciplines. For applicants primarily interested in business, it may feel slightly lacking. In contrast, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), located in Chicago, benefits from the proximity to the U.S. financial hub, offering business students more internship and employment opportunities, and the vibrant city life adds a lot to students' overall experiences.
UIC’s business school offers not only the traditional two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) program but also an accelerated one-year Accelerated MBA program. The admissions standards differ from the typical TOEFL and GMAT requirements; they utilize a written and oral examination process. If circumstances permit, the business school may even send representatives to Taiwan for in-person interviews, allowing the school to directly meet with applicants and assess their backgrounds and abilities, thereby replacing standardized tests like TOEFL and GMAT.
Saint Louis University | One-Year MBA (STEM)
.. U.S News NationalUniversity Ranking #103
.. U.S News Best UndergraduateBusiness Program #97
.. QS US University #121-130
Saint Louis University (SLU) is located in Missouri, USA, and is a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU), which includes schools such as Boston College, Georgetown University, and the University of San Francisco. The member schools frequently exchange information, including social movements, employment opportunities, and health assistance, extending campus resources across the United States.
The Chaifetz School of Business at SLU offers a unique one-year MBA program, designed to meet the trends of the times. The target audience is students interested in fields such as data analysis, e-commerce, and business analytics. Since the curriculum is focused on data and information technologies, this one-year MBA at SLU is a rare STEM business program. This means that international students who complete the program can extend their OPT (Optional Practical Training) for up to 3 years! Even better, the one-year MBA does not require GRE/GMAT scores for admission, making it a great opportunity for international students!
