Yale University is a private research university located in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. It was founded on October 9, 1701, originally as "The Collegiate School," making it the third-oldest higher education institution in the United States. In 1718, the school was renamed "Yale College" to honor a donation from Elihu Yale, the president of the British East India Company.
