    | About the Master of International Teaching and Global Leadership (ITGL)

    The International Teaching and Global Leadership Cohort Master of Education (M.Ed) in International Teaching and Global Leadership (ITGL) is Johns Hopkins University's first program designed to develop international education professionals. This program not only trains the much-needed education professionals but also aims to cultivate future educational leaders, policy makers, and program developers.

    ITGL graduates will receive a Master of Science in Education degree awarded by Johns Hopkins University. In addition, ITGL offers a full range of student services, including accommodation placement, career planning, academic counseling, rich cultural experiences, and mental health counseling services.


    Three Major Features of ITGL

    - A research university with abundant academic resources

    - A wide range of elective specialties, earn a degree in one year

    - No GRE/GMAT required for application


    ITGL Curriculum Introduction

    The ITGL curriculum consists of both core and elective courses. There are eight core required courses, and students choose three additional elective courses based on their chosen specialty. The degree must be completed within 12 months with a total of 11 courses, amounting to 33 credits.

    Six Elective Specialization Courses [9 Credits]

    To allow students to choose based on their expertise and future career development, ITGL offers six specialization groups for applicants to choose from, as follows:


    1. STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

    Help students understand the concept, learning, and development of STEM education. Through this specialization, students will learn how to integrate knowledge from the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, turning fragmented knowledge into a connected whole through STEM education.

    Course Content

        - Integration of STEM Content through the Science of Learning

        - Foundational Concepts of STEM

        - Leading STEM Instructional Programs & Professional Development

        Note: This specialization requires related teaching or work experience in STEM fields


       

    2. Creative and Innovative Education

        Based on research and practice, this course focuses on strategies and techniques for gifted education. Students will learn how to identify high-potential learners (gifted students) through in-depth understanding and analysis, as well as how to provide corresponding teaching materials and strategies for gifted students.

    3. Entrepreneur in Education

        This specialization combines education with business studies, focusing on how to design business models, strategies, and cultural innovations for the education profession, cultivating entrepreneurial and forward-thinking education entrepreneurs and successful leaders.

    4. Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

        This program focuses on training English teachers to enhance their multicultural competence in cross-cultural educational settings, respecting learners' languages and cultures, thereby increasing learner engagement and improving learning outcomes.

        - Language and Culture in TEFL

        - Program Evaluation and Learner Assessment in TEFL

        - Building Productive Learning Relationships for TEFL – 1 Credit

    5. Digital Age Teaching and Learning Technology

        This course helps students explore innovative online education products, innovative educational data management experiences and methods, and how emerging technologies can be used to design and implement new types of teaching classrooms and learning methods.

    6. Early Childhood Education
