The University of Queensland (UQ) is located in Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, Australia. It is Queensland's first comprehensive university and one of the largest and most prestigious institutions in Australia. Brisbane is widely recognized as the most livable city in Australia. The university is a member of the six sandstone universities, the Group of Eight (Go8), and Universities 21. Its main campus is located in the St. Lucia university precinct in the suburbs of Brisbane, adjacent to the Brisbane River, just 7 kilometers from the central business district. The campus has the largest library in Queensland and some of the most advanced sports facilities in the state. UQ also has two other campuses in Gatton and Herston, and advanced research stations and ample scientific research facilities on North Stradbroke Island.
UQ has six faculties: Faculty of Business, Economics and Law; Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology; Faculty of Health and Behavioral Sciences; Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; and Faculty of Science. The university is home to two Nobel laureates among its alumni. In the 2021 QS World University Rankings, UQ is ranked 46th, while in the 2020 U.S. News World University Rankings, it is ranked 42nd. The university's business school is the first in Australia to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), also holds EQUIS accreditation, and is rated with five stars by the Graduate Management Association of Australia (GMAA).
