Founded in 1927
Tilburg University is a public research university located in Tilburg, the sixth-largest city in the Netherlands. Originally established as a school of economics, the university became internationally renowned for its excellence in business and later developed into a leading university in the field of social sciences. Tilburg has a population of approximately 200,000, with more than 20,000 students, making it an important educational hub in the Netherlands. Located in the southern part of the country, Tilburg borders Belgium and lies between Rotterdam, Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Brussels. The Faculty of Economics and Management, Law, and Social and Behavioral Sciences are among the oldest at Tilburg University. The Tilburg Institute for Economics is one of the best economic research institutes in Europe, and its TiSEM (School of Economics and Management) is a world-class business school, ranked 28th in the world in 2019. The business courses at Tilburg University are accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), making it one of the thirteen European universities with this prestigious certification. Tilburg Law School is renowned for its high-quality teaching and research in Dutch and international law, and it is ranked by the SSRN (Social Science Research Network) as one of the best international law schools.
