    Michigan State University (MSU), founded in 1855, is a public research university located in East Lansing, Michigan. The university is home to the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory, the Bill Plant Garden, the Abrams Planetarium, the Wharton Center for Performing Arts, the Broad Art Museum, and the largest student housing system in the United States.

    In the 2020 USNews rankings, Michigan State University was ranked 84th in the nation, and in the 2016 rankings for Best Public Universities, it ranked 29th. It is also ranked 82nd among the best universities globally. Academically, MSU is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, and many of its programs are ranked among the best in the nation. The university offers over 200 academic programs, and its undergraduate education, secondary education, and master's programs have been ranked #1 for seven consecutive years by USNews. Prominent programs include communications, education, criminal justice, music therapy, hotel management, packaging, political science, nutrition, and communication.

    Michigan State University's athletics teams compete in NCAA Division I and are a member of the Big Ten Conference. Their sports teams are nicknamed the "Spartans," with the football and men's basketball teams achieving notable success. Famous alumni include former Michigan Governor James Blanchard, billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad, Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert, founders of the "天下杂志" and "30杂志" magazines Gao Xijun, and Hollywood actor James Spader.
