    School Introduction

University of Southern California (USC), commonly referred to as USC or SC, is a private research university located in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1880, USC is the oldest private research university in California and a world-renowned institution of higher education, which has produced countless entrepreneurs and professionals. USC is the economic engine of Los Angeles, contributing nearly 5 billion dollars in annual output. With an acceptance rate of just 16%, USC is one of the most selective universities in the United States. USC maintains a tradition of innovation and entrepreneurship, with many successful companies such as Lucasfilm, Myspace, Qualcomm, Box, and Riot Games founded by USC alumni. Although USC has a history of just over a century, its programs, particularly in business, film, communications, architecture, medicine, and engineering, are highly respected and consistently ranked in U.S. News & World Report. Notable schools include the Marshall School of Business and the Rossier School of Education. USC is a school known for producing movie stars and sports celebrities. Not only is it located near Hollywood, but it also boasts one of the world's top film schools, the School of Cinematic Arts. USC's campus has been featured in thousands of movies, TV shows, commercials, and music videos, thanks to its historic brick buildings and Ivy League-style landscaping. As a result, it is one of the most frequently used locations by filmmakers to "play" other universities, such as Harvard or Oxford in films. USC's sports teams are called the "Trojans," and their mascot is Traveler, a Trojan riding a white horse. The football team is particularly famous, with a fierce rivalry against Notre Dame, making their competition one of the most intense in the country. The rivalry between USC and UCLA in both academics and sports is legendary. The university has a vast global alumni network, known as the "Trojan Family," with notable individuals in politics, business, technology, and the arts. USC ranks among the top universities in alumni donations annually. USC has a large number of Chinese alumni, including many famous Taiwanese entertainers. Notably, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is also a USC alumnus. The university’s film school has developed alongside Hollywood’s film industry, producing many talented filmmakers, including George Lucas, director of "Star Wars" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
