    School Introduction

Dartmouth College is a private research university located in Hanover, New Hampshire, and is a member of the Ivy League. Although categorized as a "university" by U.S. standards, it has retained the title of "college" due to its strong emphasis on undergraduate education. Known for its "small and selective" enrollment, Dartmouth is the smallest of the Ivy League schools.

The college follows a liberal arts education philosophy, offering 40 departments and interdisciplinary programs, including 56 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering, allowing students to specialize in a particular field or pursue dual degrees.

Dartmouth is home to four distinguished graduate schools: the Geisel School of Medicine, the Thayer School of Engineering, the Tuck School of Business, and the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies.

With a wide range of student activities, nearly 25% of Dartmouth students excel in NCAA Division I athletics. The school's teams are known as the Big Green, with green and white as its official colors.

Notable alumni include the famous American writer and cartoonist Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel), "Grey's Anatomy" producer Shonda Rhimes, current U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, 62 Rhodes Scholars, 13 Pulitzer Prize winners, 164 U.S. Senators and Representatives, and 8 Cabinet members.
