Founded in 1845, Baylor University is the oldest continuously operating university in Texas and the largest Baptist institution of higher education in the world. It is a large private research university located in the metropolitan city of Waco, Texas, on a 1,000-acre campus along the Brazos River. The university consists of 11 schools and colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Social Work, the George Truett Theological Seminary, the Graduate School, the Hankamer School of Business, the Honors College, the School of Law, the Louise Herrington School of Nursing, the School of Music, the College of Health and Human Sciences, the School of Education, and the School of Engineering and Computer Science. Baylor offers 142 undergraduate degree programs, with nearly one-quarter in business, marketing, and management. The College of Arts and Sciences alone offers over 5,000 courses. The university follows a semester-based academic calendar. Baylor University has over 16,000 students, with more than 14,000 undergraduates. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1, with an acceptance rate of 44%. Over 90% of Baylor students receive financial aid or scholarships.
