The University of Manitoba, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is the largest university in Manitoba and one of the seventeen first-tier universities in Canada that can award medical and doctoral degrees. Winnipeg is located in central Canada, 70 kilometers from the U.S.-Canada border, and is a beautiful city with distinct four seasons, often referred to as the "Northern Chicago." Winnipeg is also Canada's cultural capital for performing arts, hosting world-class ballet companies, symphony orchestras, and a variety of theaters, with many large cultural and arts festivals taking place every year.

The University of Manitoba has three campuses: the Bannatyne campus, the Fort Garry campus (the main campus), and the William Norrie Centre. The university is a member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities, and its engineering programs are highly regarded. Its medical school, agricultural school, and business school are also among the best in Canada. The university’s medical and pharmaceutical programs are ranked 91st globally, while the business school ranks 89th worldwide.

With 22 departments, the University of Manitoba has approximately 26,000 students enrolled, with many departments offering master's and doctoral programs. The Asper School of Business is ranked among Canada’s top 10 business schools by Canada Business News. Moreover, the University of Manitoba is one of the few Canadian universities that allow first-year students to focus on foundational courses, and only in their second year do they select their major based on their grades and interests.
