Rutgers University, officially known as The State University of New Jersey, was founded in 1766 and is a public research university. It is the largest institution of higher education in New Jersey and is considered one of the public Ivy League schools. The main campus is located in New Brunswick and Piscataway, with additional campuses in Newark and Camden. Geographically, it is situated between New York and Philadelphia. Rutgers boasts excellent facilities and a strong academic environment, with approximately 48,000 students, 2% of whom are international students. The university also has a dedicated International Student and Scholar Services Center to support international students. Rutgers ranked 62nd in the 2020 US News rankings. Its Philosophy Department is ranked 2nd in the nation, and Physics and Astronomy are also among its popular departments. The university offers over 175 academic departments, 29 schools, more than 100 master's degree programs, and 80 doctoral programs. Notably, every year, Rutgers provides 4,450 internship opportunities for students, with companies such as PwC, EY, and Citigroup. Additionally, students can attend up to 12 career fairs annually, which directly aid in employment prospects. Notable alumni include Kristen Davis, actress from "Sex and the City," Zhang Tianli, founder of the Taiwanese online bookstore Bookstore, Xu Shaoyang, Chinese-American singer and actor, David Stern, NBA commissioner, and several Pulitzer Prize winners.
