The University of Florida (UF), located in Gainesville, Florida, is a public research university and a member of the Association of American Universities. It is the third-largest university in Florida with nearly 50,000 students. The student-run newspaper, "The Independent Florida Alligator," is the largest student newspaper in the U.S., with a daily circulation of about 35,000 copies and over 53,000 readers. The university comprises 16 colleges and more than 150 research centers and institutes.
