Western University, also known as the University of Western Ontario or simply Western, is a leading public research university located in London, Ontario, Canada. The university is often regarded as the most beautiful in Canada. London is Canada's 10th largest city with a population nearing 500,000, situated 200 kilometers away from Toronto. The campus includes more than 75 buildings, as well as specialized teaching facilities such as the Indian Archaeological Museum, an observatory, and a wind tunnel for surface testing.
Founded in 1878, Western is one of the oldest universities in Canada, with over a century of academic history. It has achieved great success in fields such as business, medicine, and humanities. Western University offers 12 faculties, including the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Arts & Humanities, Education, Engineering, Graduate Studies, Health Sciences, Information & Media Studies, Law, Music (Don Wright Faculty of Music), Richard Ivey School of Business, Science, and Social Science. The university also has three affiliated colleges: Brescia University College, Huron University College, and King's University College.
Brescia University College is a Catholic women’s college and the last remaining women's college in Canada, and one of the most notable in North America. Huron University College is one of the oldest colleges in Canada and a founding institution of Western. King's University College is a liberal arts college.
