The University of Ottawa is a public research university located in the capital city of Canada, Ottawa. It is the oldest and largest bilingual university in the world, offering programs in both English and French. It is also a member of the U15 Group of Canadian Research Universities. The main campus is situated in downtown Ottawa, just a few blocks from the Parliament Hill, offering an excellent location.
The University of Ottawa ranks fifth in academic performance among Canada’s TOP 50 universities and seventh among Canadian research universities. It also boasts the fourth-largest CO-OP program in Canada. A defining feature of the University of Ottawa is its bilingual education, which promotes bilingualism and the development of dual cultures in a multicultural environment. The university’s unique bilingual curriculum allows students to use either language to complete their coursework.
The university has ten faculties: the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The Telfer School of Management is the only business school in Canada to be accredited by all three of the world’s top business school accrediting bodies: AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS. Due to its location in the capital, the Faculty of Social Sciences offers particularly strong programs in Political Science and Public Administration.
The Faculty of Law is one of the largest law schools in Canada, and the Faculty of Engineering is considered one of the best engineering schools in the world. Its research in medicine and pharmacology is also ranked among the top 100 globally.
