The campuses are approximately 30 minutes by car from Seattle International Airport and about 25 minutes from downtown Seattle. The college is situated in a beautiful forested area, with a mild climate and distinct seasons, with little snow in the winter. Currently, the college has about 10,000 students, with 15% of them being international students. Green River offers over 75 major programs, and students who complete their first two years are often accepted into top universities such as the University of Washington, University of Michigan, Cornell University, University of Southern California, UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Parsons School of Design, University of Wisconsin, Johns Hopkins University, University of Illinois, UCLA, Purdue University, University of Texas, NYU, and others. The major programs offered at Green River include arts, business, communication, computer science, early childhood education, engineering, law, medicine, music, social sciences, IT, aviation, and more. It is one of the few community colleges in the U.S. that offers on-campus housing. The campus also has a bookstore, cafeteria, gymnasium, fitness center, counseling center, and a student-run radio station. The counseling center has Chinese-speaking counselors, so Taiwanese students do not have to worry about language barriers when seeking assistance. For extracurricular activities, popular options among students include hiking, skiing, snow camping, visiting museums, attending concerts, and traveling along the Pacific Coast.
